Epson brings the new orange in Worcester

An Epson SureColor S80600 eco-solvent printer and Summa S-class 1600 cutter have been added by Worcester-based Sign Here to hit specific brand colours for vehicle livery and to improve print and cut throughput.

Established in 2011, Sign Here is a full service sign specialist with a nationwide roster of customers, providing everything from specialist retail and healthcare signage to embroidery and printed clothing, as well as business cards. However, a ‘tricky’ vehicle wrap project revealed shortcomings in its existing wide-format print equipment:

‘We took on a catering vehicle wrap that required printing a really vibrant orange with burgundy overlay and our existing printers couldn’t match the brief. It was time to update the system. I talked to some people, and that was when I heard about the Epson S-Series S80600,’ explained owner Kevin Mahoney.

The 1.6m Epson’s multiple colours, which include vivid orange and red inks alongside CMYK and ‘lights’, coupled with Onyx RIP software, were able to hit the required colour for the vehicle wrap and also proved more accurate at reproducing  grey shades that had previously been problematic.

Sign Here also invested in a Summa S-class 1600 roll cutter to complement the output from the Epson and other wide-format printers.

‘The system’s ability to print and cut are seamless. Jobs that used to take up to an hour are now completed in 15 minutes,’ says Mr Mahoney. ‘When it came to colour, the Epson nailed it, and I’ve used a Summa cutter for years. This is a bigger version of the one we already own. They are bullet proof, reliable technology. Together, they have future-proofed our business.’

Sign Here sourced the new machines through Basildon-based SEDO, via recommendation. ‘We approached a few resellers but Andy McGuinness and his team at SEDO seemed keen to make sure we got what we needed,’ said Mr Mahoney.
