It's Right Time for Digital Transformation in China Printing Industry

Time:2023-05-17 From:

Since the beginning of this century, in the face of the fourth industrial revolution, the world's major industrial countries have successively launched a series of national strategies, which, although launched at different times and with different focuses, have coincidentally focused on the field of digital transformation, supported and guided all kinds of market players to explore the new modes and forms of digital transformation, and encouraged the development of technological innovations and industrial applications, with a view to injecting a powerful agent into the economic development, and accelerating the formation of new economic growth points.

In 2017, China raised the construction of "Digital China" to a high level of national strategy. In China's 14th Five-Year Plan, "accelerating digital development and building a digital China" has become the action plan for the next five or even 15 years of digital transformation and development.

Therefore, it can be seen that the promotion of digital transformation has become an important hand to push forward high-quality development in the new development stage.

From the perspective of intelligent manufacturing, digitalization is one of the key steps in intelligent manufacturing. In the "14th Five-Year Plan" for the Development of Intelligent Manufacturing of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it is proposed that the manufacturing industry should realize the construction goals of digital transformation, networked collaboration and intelligent change. At last year's Sixth World Intelligence Conference, the Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out that there are three basic paradigms for intelligent manufacturing: the first generation is "digital" manufacturing; the second generation is "digital, networked" manufacturing; the third generation is "digital, networked, intelligent" manufacturing; and the third generation is "digital, networked, intelligent" manufacturing. The third generation is "digital, networked, intelligent" manufacturing. China needs to adopt a technological approach in which "digitalization, networking and intelligence" are promoted in parallel and developed in an integrated manner.

For China's printing industry, digital transformation to power changes in printing production methods and governance is also an important direction for the development of the "14th Five-Year Plan". Pioneering companies have emerged in the printing industry, striving to build digital factories with integrated production data, flexible manufacturing and intelligent management; and through strengthening lean production and carrying out intelligent upgrading, we are moving towards the ideal goal of smart factories.

But for the more general printing compnies, because the digital transformation in enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises in the short term role may not be direct and visible, "why digital transformation", the confusion still exists ; while facing the hardware and software investment, digital literacy and lack of skills and other realities of the dilemma, the pace of the digital transformation would take more than a few hesitations.

Indeed, digital transformation is not a short-term implementation project, but a continuous iterative systematic project, which requires companies to carry out systematic planning and phase-by-phase construction in terms of top-level design, process scheduling, business process planning, organizational restructuring, and digital talent training.

However, in the face of future development, digital transformation is obviously no longer an optional question, but a mandatory one. Confronting this incremental revolution, companies can only evolve into a more competitive version of themselves if they are brave enough to meet the challenges. We can only hope that companies follow the "from easy to difficult, from point to point, long-term iteration, multi-party synergy" principle, and through digital transformation to improve quality, efficiency, cost reduction, consumption reduction; we also expect all parties in the industry to work together to help reduce the threshold of the digital transformation of the printing companies, and collaborate to provide more high-quality products and services.
