Analysis of Overall Import and Export Stuation

In 2021, China's total import and export of printing machinery and equipment was 7.498 billion US dollars, an increase of 33.4% compared with 5.623 billion US dollars in 2020. During this period, the import and export volume of China's printing machinery and equipment both achieved double-digit growth. Among them, the import value was 3.067 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 34.6%; the export value was 4.431 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 32.5%; the trade surplus was 1.365 billion. USD, an increase of 27.9% year-on-year.

Figure 1 shows the growth rate of China's total import and export of printing machinery and equipment. In 2021, the total import and export of China's printing machinery and equipment achieved rapid growth, mainly due to the stable development of China's economy and society and the recovery of the global economy and trade. Compared with 2019, China's total import and export of printing machinery and equipment in 2021 increased by 19.1%.

Analysis of Import Situation

Imports in general

In 2021, the import value of China's printing machinery and equipment was 3.067 billion US dollars, an increase of 34.6% compared with 2.278 billion US dollars in 2020, and a 23.9% increase compared with 2.475 billion US dollars in 2019. Judging from the quarterly growth rate of China's printing machinery and equipment imports, it has been in double-digit growth in 2021, maintaining a high-speed operation trend, which reflects the good operation of China's printing industry and the stable and continuous demand for printing machinery and equipment.. Figure 2 shows the growth rate of China's printing machinery and equipment imports.

Figure 2 Growth rate of China's printing machinery and equipment import value

From the perspective of the composition of imports, in 2021, China's printing equipment imports was 2.634 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 39.9%, accounting for 85.9% of China's total imports of printing machinery and equipment, and it is the main part of China's printing machinery and equipment import market. The import value of printing equipment was 433 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%, accounting for 14.1%, as shown in Figure 3.

Analysis on the Composition of Printing Equipment Imports

As shown in Figure 4, printing equipment is divided into three categories: pre-press equipment, printing equipment, and post-press equipment. Among them, in 2021, the import value of printing equipment accounted for the largest proportion of China's total printing equipment imports, accounting for 86.3%; followed by Post-press equipment, accounting for 11.3%; lastly, pre-press equipment, accounting for 2.5%.

Figure 4 Import value and proportion of various printing equipment in China in 2021

Judging from the growth of import value, in 2021, China's import value of various printing equipment has achieved double-digit growth. Among them, the import value of printing equipment, which accounts for the largest proportion, increased by 41.1% year-on-year in 2021 and 23.7% compared with 2019, as shown in Figure 5.

Figure 5 Growth rate of China's printing equipment imports

The import value of post-press equipment increased by 34.6% year-on-year in 2021 and 50.7% compared with 2019, as shown in Figure 6. It is worth mentioning that since the third quarter of 2020, the quarterly import market of post-press equipment in China has been growing. At present, many unfavorable factors have prompted printing companies to re-examine the input and output of each production link in the factory. More and more printing companies are beginning to realize that the post-press link was the next focus for printing companies to increase efficiency and save money and show their strength. , have increased investment in the post-print link.

Overall, China's printing machinery and equipment import and export market in 2021 has handed over a dazzling transcript, which is already better than the level before the epidemic. This reflects that China's printing industry is in a state of growing operation, the speed of upgrading of printing enterprises' equipment has accelerated, and the international competitiveness of the printing machinery and equipment manufacturing industry has been increasingly strengthened, and the export market has shown strong resilience. However, the global epidemic has repeatedly occurred, the economic recovery has been divided, and the domestic economic development is also facing the triple pressure of demand contraction, supply shock and weakening expectations. China's printing machinery and equipment import and export market is faced with more uncertain, unstable and unbalanced factors.
